Prof. Dr. Cafer Adıgüzel, Hematology Specialist at Medicana Ataşehir Hospital, emphasized that early diagnosis and treatment play a critical role in acute leukemia. Adıgüzel stated that acute leukemias, which can spread to all organs by multiplying in the bone marrow and then entering the blood, are a serious condition that must be urgently treated. He listed the symptoms of leukemia, such as weakness due to anemia, high fever due to susceptibility to infections, bleeding from the nose, gums, and under the skin, bruises on the body, loss of appetite, and general body aches. Adıgüzel also explained that the treatment of acute leukemia involves destroying bad cells and allowing healthy normal cells to regenerate, which takes about a month. He added that bone marrow transplantation is one of the definitive treatment methods for acute leukemia and that a healthy lifestyle can help prevent cancer.
